We have several Royalty positions that are an integral part of the Auburn Good Ol' Days
festival! The Grand Marshal will lead the Grand Parade on Saturday, August
12th at HIGH NOON! The Pioneer Spirit is awarded to a person that has displayed attributes that helped form the
foundation of the community as it is today. The
Pioneer Queen rides in the Grand Parade and represents the Auburn Community in
several local parades throughout the summer months! Our Lifetime
Achievement Award represents a lifetime of dedication to Auburn and its people. Our "Auburn's Number One Hero" is a
perpetual honor that goes to Bobby Vogel as an example of living life to its
fullest against all odds!
Congratulations to our

You may meet them at VIP Night on August 12th,see
them in the Grand Parade Saturday August 14th or
on stage Saturday 2:30 pm following the parade.

PIONEER
QUEEN Donnie Berry
-
Mother of five children,
grandmother and great grandmother went back to school to earn her degree.

Appointed as accountant in
charge of grants for South King County Equal Opportunity Bureau by Donald
Rumsfeld.

SOIC accountant and helped
begin the Head Start program
-
Retired from the Federal Drug Enforcement
Agency after 23 years
-
Volunteers at Auburn YMCA, Auburn Rotary,
Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society, teaches safe driving to
seniors for AARP and visits prisons eight days a month with
Kairos

We are so blessed to have this golfing,
giving, joyful person as our 2010 Auburn Good Ol’ Days Pioneer Queen.
GRAND MARSHAL Rosie Johanns
- Called Saint Rosie by
many as her kind and giving heart has blessed so many babies and mothers in
need.
- Member of the Optimist
Club of Auburn, 50 Plus Club, Holy Family Church, Auburn YMCA, Pregnancy Aid
Benefit Fashion Show and spearheads the Giving Tree at Christmas time.
- Director of Pregnancy
Aid and one of the kindest, most caring people you will ever meet, Rosie is
always looking for ways to help people.
- Mother of many, friend
to all, wife to one… Rosie is a “spark plug” of positive energy that connects
people to one another for the good of all.
- Rosie is celebrating her
50 year class reunion this weekend
- Rosie is just as her
name implies… She is just as “Rosie” as they come!
PIONEER SPIRIT Mel Sinex
- Almost 90 years ago, Mel
was born in the “still standing” Heisserman home on a farm at the end of East
Main Street.
- Father of three
daughters, Janice, Linda & Leslie and grandfather to many
- Graduated Auburn High
School 1938, attended Pacific Lutheran College for three years then earned his
degree in dentistry.
- Served as a war time
dentist for the Navy in Okinawa. He returned home to Auburn.
- As a member of the
Kiwanis Club since 1950 he has been known to flip a few burgers over the years
at their booth at the festival.
- Life hit him hard with
the recent loss of Johnnie, his wife of 60 years. She suffered for years with
Alzheimer’s and Mel was always at her side.
- Auburn School Board
Member for 13.5 years, he was on the committee to bring Green River Community
College to Auburn.
- When asked for his
parting thoughts he sincerely and reverently said, “I can’t imagine not being
able to live my life anywhere else but in Auburn”.
